Frequently Asked Questions

What is parent coaching?

Parent coaching is responsive support that will help you identify your family’s strengths, understand your parenting challenges and develop tailor-made solutions for your situation. Sessions are less expensive than therapy, can be structured around your schedule, and focus on providing immediate, clear, practical strategies to help you and your family thrive.  You may choose from one session to multiple sessions depending on your family needs.

Who needs it?

Anyone who is having trouble coping with day-to-day parenting or who needs to address specific parenting challenges. I support families from pregnancy and through young adulthood. Many families I work with, check in a few times per year to give their parenting skills a boost and handle any new family challenges that come up - just like getting a booster shot!

How will it work? What will it look like?

You are welcome to call or email me for a FREE CONSULTATION about my services and/or to set up a Zoom or telephone coaching session. Together, we can determine what type of support best suits your needs. In some cases, it may be a one-time, issue-specific session; in other cases, it may be three or more 1- 1.5 hour sessions to help you clarify your parenting goals and develop healthy strategies to attain those goals. For the first session, I recommend a 90 to 120-minute session (at a cost of $135 to $180) so we can exchange relevant information about your child and start working on strategies together right away.

How much will it cost?

My fee is $90 / hour for a virtual Zoom or a telephone coaching session. Please arrange Zoom or telephone coaching sessions in advance by email Joanne@parentsupport.ca

What types of payment are accepted?

Once we have completed our parent coaching session, I will send you an invoice by email. Easy payment options are available by E-bank transfer, credit or debit via Paypal, cheque or cash.
